           Artist Trading Cards

What is an Artist Trading Card?

Artist Trading Cards (ATCs) are mini artworks that are used to trade with other artists nationally.
The front of an ATC can be of absolutely anything that represents you and/or your art style in some way.
For example, if you love to create characters, the front of your card would have one of your original character designs.
If you love the outdoors, the front of your card could be a landscape of your favorite place to be or a place you always wanted to explore.
Artist Trading Cards can be created in a number of ways.
They can be drawings, paintings, mixed media, collage, stamping, or even digitally rendered.
Artists of all skill levels either attend events to trade cards in person or trade online so they have a collection of mini artworks from aspiring and known artists.

 Your Mission:

Teacher Example:

On your artist trading card, you are going to draw yourself as a character.
The character can be a made up character that resembles you OR it can be a known character like Sponge Bob and you give that character similar features as your own. For example, if I were to draw a version of Sponge Bob that looks like me, I would add long hair, glasses, piercings, and tattoos to match my features & accessories that represent me.
This assignment is meant to be fun so do not overthink it!
Requirements:
1. Draw your character LIGHTLY
2. Character must have similar features as your own
3. A nickname or preferred name must be visible on the front
4. A background design must be made showing something you enjoy
For example, mine shows skulls & flowers because I LOVE skulls & I love to garden
5. Your ATC must be colored in completely (little to no white showing)
  • Once your card is complete, you will photograph your card with nothing else in the photo!
  • This photo will be uploaded to your Google Slide Portfolio with the title Artist Trading Card.
  • Write a mini description using complete sentences about your character and the background you created (your interests) and why.
