The Blend Tool

The Blend Tool in AI is a simple but yet powerful tool. It allows you to blend multiple objects together, allowing 2-dimensional, or flat objects appear 3-dimensional. 
Although the blend tool is simple to use, it requires practice and experimenting in order to determine its affects. 
There are 3 options when using the blend tool:
             1. Smooth Color: gradually changing one color to the next in a smooth transition 
             2. Specified Steps: you determine the number of how many lines are blending the objects together. The smaller the number, the less amount of lines. The higher the number, more lines are used. 
              3. Specified distance: you determine how far apart the lines are spaced out from one another 

The blend tool can be used with pre-made shapes and lines created by the pen tool. 

Evert Martin is an artist and designer that has made a living by creating compositions using the blend tool.
