Portraits

Portraits

Portraits are a representation of a person depicted through various mediums, such as photographs, paintings, sculpture, or other artistic forms. The styles and representations of people have changed dramatically throughout history, but yet its purpose, has always remained the same.
Portraits are meant to capture the person's personality, emotion or mood, and sometimes the person's lifestyle.
Portraits can be done of other people, or artists can portray themselves, known as self-portraits.

Your mission

You will be painting a contemporary self portrait in the style of Kehinde Wiley.

To complete this project, you will need the following:
- A printed, black & white selfie
(if the selfie is colored, we can turn it to black & white to help us see the values)
- Representational design sketched onto tracing paper for your background
(Logos, brands, emojis, snapchat filters, symbols, etc.)

Please refer to the rubric throughout the project. This will be used as a self-evaluation rubric and Mrs. Mendola's grading rubric.
