Foundations in Media Arts Final

Google Portfolio 

Part of your final grade will be based on your presentation and organization of your Google Portfolio from this school year.
Your portfolio will be graded separately and will be worth 50 points.
Below are the requirements for your portfolio:
  1. Title Page: This includes your first and last name, Foundations in Media Arts, your class period, and Digital Portfolio
  2. Theme: Choose a theme available in Google Slides or make your own 
  3. Labels: Each project must be labeled with the project name 
  4. Chronological Order: Each slide must be in the order in which we did the projects (ex. the 1st project slide should be the 1st project created).
    1. ​Each project is listed in order under the FIMA tab.​
  5. Proportioned Images: Each project must be uploaded in your portfolio proportionally. This means they should NOT be skewed or warped in any way! 
    1. Upload the JPEG version of your project
    2. Hold down the SHIFT key and DRAG from any of the corners  
  6. Additional Art: If you completed any extra projects / personal artwork it is up you on how you want them organized. Each additional art work should be labeled! 
    1. They can be organized at the end of your portfolio following the assigned projects. 
    2. They can be organized by chronological order (the order in which you created the projects)

Ben Copperwheat

You will be designing your final project based on the innovative work of Ben Copperwheat. 
Ben Copperwheat 
produces fine art and wearable art, creating printed textiles for some of the world's leading brands such as Gucci, Calvin Klein, Tommy Hilfiger, and DKNY. His work has been commissioned by celebrities such as Beyonce and Blue Ivy, Boy George, and Liza Minelli among others, as well as being featured in numerous fashion shows nationwide. 
Copperwheat is from the United Kingdom, however, he currently resides in Brooklyn, New York.
In addition to creating artwork. he has taught at four top British and American Institutes; Northumbria University Newcastle, Royal College of Art, San Francisco Academy of Art, and New York University. 
All of Copperwheat's art is known for its bright, neon rainbow colored patterns creating a unique visual language on textiles and prints.

Final Project

For your final project, you will choose ONE of the projects below based on the work of ​Ben Copperwheat.
Each project will need an original pattern design created in Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator. Your pattern design will be submitted in your Google Slide Portfolio and will be counted as a separate project grade. Each of the project options posted below are based on previous projects we have done throughout the year. Therefore, there will be no new tutorials posted for the assignment. You may reference any of the tutorials posted on the website to help you complete your final project. All projects can be created using the tools and skills you have gained throughout the course. 
This is your time to SHINE and show off everything you've learned, you will be completing your final project 100% on your own! 
Just remember... pay attention to detail and fill your composition appropriately! 

Ben Copperwheat inspired Product Design 

Final Project Option # 1: 
For this project, you will be designing a "fashion look" in the style of Ben Copperwheat. 
You will design ONE article of clothing (T-shirt, crop top, jacket, pants, etc.) and ONE accessory (purse, belt, hat, shoe, etc.) for a customer or targeted audience of your choice (athletes, musicians, toddlers, etc.)

Final Project Option # 2: 
For this project, you will be designing a cover for a movie, book, or album (music). 
You will choose a character, author, or musician to be on the Ben Copperwheat inspired cover you are designing. 
Your cover must have an original pattern incorporated to it .

Ben Copperwheat inspired Playing Card 

Final Project Option # 3: 
For this project, you will be designing an original playing card in the style of Ben Copperwheat. 
You will be designing the Front and Back of a playing card of your choice. 
Both sides of the playing card must have an original pattern design(s) included.
