Short Story Illustrations
For our first project, we are going to create an illustration based off of a short story or movie.
But there is a catch!!
The illustration will need to show a different character's perspective.
For example, the story I chose was Jack and the Beanstalk so I am creating an illustration from the Giant's perspective (see sketch below)
Illustrations can be drawn traditionally OR it can be done using Illustrator.
Materials used will be entirely up to you; Pen & Ink, Watercolor, Marker, etc.
Below is another example of a sketch illustrating a Japanese Fable and the finalized pen illustration.
- Choose your favorite short story, fairy tale, movie, etc.
- Choose a character to show the story from their perspective.
** IT CANNOT BE THE MAIN CHARACTER **
- Find reference images
- Sketch your design to create an interesting composition
- Transfer your work on final copy paper
- Finalize your project with chosen materials
Roles to Hold in NAHS
While you are in National Art Honor Society, you have the option to be a member or be a member who holds a chapter duty. Some of the duties are vice-president, treasurer, secretary, & historian. If you are interested in having one of these duties. you will need to 'run' for the position in which you will briefly explain why you believe you will be the best candidate for this duty. At the end of our meeting on October 16th, we will have an anonymous vote where the majority will win.
FACE PAINTING & COMMUNITY SERVICE OPPORTUNITY
As many of you already know FRIDAY, OCTOBER 12TH is MIDDLETOWN'S PEP RALLY!
Some of our student athlete's have been invited to go to the elementary school's during the first half of the day to show the youngsters school spirit. WE, the Middletown National Art Honor Society will face paint our student athletes so they are jazzed up for the elementary schools and our pep rally. Face painting is BEFORE school so you will need to be at MHS by 7:00 AM sharp.
This is a great opportunity to bang out 1 hour of community service & show your school spirit.
We are keeping the face painting simple - paw print, block letter M, and eyebrow dots.
Please let Mendola know if you are coming so paint can be set up accordingly.
